Chinese Wreck This Journal!

Approximately two months ago I was contacted by Yuan-Liou Publishing Company, a company in Taiwan who asked if they could use photos from my Wreck This Journal in a promo booklet. They were making a Chinese version and needed something to show “This is what you can do with this book.” I gave them permission and honestly rather forgot about it until they sent me another email asking for my mailing address. They got the okay to make the book and wanted to send me two copies as a thank you! I received them last week and wanted to get permission from the company before I blogged about them, I wasn’t sure if the book was actually released yet so I didn’t want to prematurely post information about it on the internet.

Just to be sure, I did contact Keri Smith, the creator of WTJ, to make sure she’d been asked permission for this version. She was, so this Chinese WTJ is legit, not a stolen idea.

The books they sent are slightly different, different covers and one has extra content. The books are in both English and Chinese, so I might fill one in and leave the other one blank when I finish my current copy. They also sent a handful of copies of their promo booklet, it’s only a few pages but most of the pictures are mine — all but the last two pages, as a matter of fact — which is awesome. The booklet is only in Chinese though, so I have no idea what it says but it was still fun to look over, Chinese characters are pretty awesome looking.

I’m really excited that I was able to help the creation of a WTJ in another language, it’s wonderful that more people get to enjoy this book!

The websites are in Chinese but if you’re interested in purchasing either of these books, you can find the black one here and the red one here.
