“Now we’re getting to the good stuff.”

Mom and I went to the L.A Zoo yesterday to see the new home for the reptiles, called The LAIR. While passing the first main fork in the road, we heard a guy say “Oh, good, gorillas! Now we’re getting to the good stuff.” Mom and I laughed and looked over to see him running up to the map with his son, asking himself “Okay, and where are the tigers?” I couldn’t help but laugh.

See, when you first enter the zoo, the very first animals you come across are the harbor seals. Then there’s the nursery full of baby animals or animals being nursed back to health. While this is an interesting area to look at, it’s still full of fairly docile animals like ground squirrels, monkeys, gerenuks, and meerkats. For a while they had some baby komodo dragons but those have been moved into The LAIR so the nursery’s back to containing animals some people would consider boring. As you continue, you come upon the main meerkat area, the Black Necked swans, and the flamingos. Then you get to this area with the map and just like this gentleman, you can see where the “good stuff” is, the animals that do more beyond stand there staring at you while munching on food. Personally, I love looking at all the animals, but everyone has their favorites.

I couldn’t help but want to take a picture of this guy. I love seeing parents who are enjoying themselves just as much as their children.
